Kris And Sheath #1 Wooden Sheath

Kris/Keris dagger from Indonesia, possibly Bali. Blade is hand-forged of iron and nickel iron, folded to create a watered pattern known as the pamor. The white inlay is most likely bone inlay and is slightly lifted. Blade is hand-forged. Possibly Java. Curved Blade has an intricate, a authentic pamor pattern of layered iron and nickel. Hilt and scabbard are original though the blade may be an heirloom handed down from one generation to the next. Inlays may be a later addition. A very nice piece for a Indonesian collection.
Kris are used for display, as talismans with magical powers, weapons, a sanctified heirloom (Pusaka), auxiliary equipment for court soldiers, an accessory for ceremonial dress, an indicator of social status, a symbol of heroism, etc.
All weapons in this collection have been thoroughly examined and researched to the best of our abilities. The majority are of the period, dynasties or reign, are used by the tribes or cultures and rarely for the commercial trade. If created for the tourist trade it will be clearly stated and in most cases obvious in terms of craftsmanship. This is a rare lifetime collection and pieces of this quality and amount are almost never found in one auction. These are not fakes or reproductions, except for the few decorative pieces which were most likely gifts to the original collector.
