Likely a Masonic sword. Inscribed on the sheath: "In hoc signo vinces " a Latin phrase conventionally translated into English as "In this sign thou shalt conquer". Printed on the canvas carry case "Thos. Smith Webb Comdy. K. T. Providence, R.I. " Thomas Smith Webb (who spent a period of time in RI) was an American author and Freemason known for helping establish York Rite Masonry. Inscribed on the sword itself "Thomas Smith Webb Commandery No.51, K. T." Condition is very good. Sword measures 35" in length.
