Ships in painterly detail, with oil built up to preserve depth. Clouds of smoke between and around the ships, with splashes from cannonballs painted sporadically around them.
Signed in the lower right corner "J. Harvey".
Born in Paris, France, Harvey was educated at the Academie Julian where many other prominent artists, such as Matisse and Bonnard, were educated. He lived in the United States for thirty years and acquired American citizenship. His paintings have been exhibited in many galleries throughout the world.
MEASUREMENTS: 19-1/2" x 23-1/2", overall 24.75" x 28.75".
