Item Description

Listed is an oil painting entitled Cat In Basket by Rhode Island artist Dorothy McGunigle (1914-2005). The painting measures 22"x18" and signed by the artist in the lower right. Mrs. McGunigle was a 1935 graduate of Rhode Island School of Design. She was a professional interior designer and decorator. She was an active member of the Providence Art Club and exhibited at numerous shows . The Rhode Island Historical Society's permanent collection contains one of her oil paintings as an outstanding example of 20th century artwork by a woman artist.
