The note accompanying the portraits mentions Mme Mary Androutzos, an Englishwoman married to a Greek. Mary Davidge Stebbins knew her in Bordighera, Italy, where they spent two or three winters from 1898 to 1899. Their headquarters at that time were Villa de l'Orient, Lausanne.
