A Genuine Cambodian Angkor -bayon -khmer Sandstone Head Mounted-SHIPPABLE

The artefact is an antique Khmer-style mounted stone Buddha head that dates back to the 12th/13th century Angkor Wat period. This sculpture has a heavyweight silhouette that projects an aura of authority. The facial features of the statue convey the prana, or inner breath, of superhuman power. The statue conveys a sense of aloofness that embodies the quiet power of Buddha and the sensuality typical of the Angkor Wat era.

The sculpture uses and enhances the formulas of the Koh Ker style, which includes the headdress with horizontal tresses and the conical mukuta. The statue's face shows a strong sense of observation, and the overall silhouette is elegant and reminiscent of the Pre-Angkorian Art period.

The ornate carving of the diadem creates a delightful contrast with the smooth, polished stone of the facial features. The lobes of the statue hang low, stretched from a youth spent as a prince wearing heavy gold earrings.
The statue's forehead is adorned with a third eye or urna,(now faded) which symbolizes Buddha's ability to see beyond the mundane universe of suffering. In the past, a jewel would have been placed here for religious ceremonies and during auspicious times in the year, as with his eyes.
