W. Schaufelberger (Swiss, 19th–early 20th century): "Rue de Purgatoire, Genève," watercolor and ink on paper mounted to artist's board, 1910, signed beneath the image at lower right "W. Schaufelberger, Genève," and additionally signed on the back with the artist's address, title, and date, image size 10" x 7-1/4", the mount measuring 12" x 9-1/2".

Schaufelberger worked in Geneva as a photographer and artist from about the 1870s until the early 1930s. A number of very similar drawings by him depicting scenes around Geneva are in the collection of the Bibliothèque de Genève.
