VINTAGE MUGHAL/RAJASTHANI PAINTING WITH FIGURES AND ELEPHANT, INDIA, 20TH CENTURY

Fine and handsome vintage Mughal/Rajasthani-style painting, India, probably mid-to-late 20th century, executed on silk over cardboard (including metallic pigments), depicting a maharaja holding a flower as he rides in a howdah atop an elephant, together with drover and attendant, the elephant covered with a richly patterned caparison (blanket), 10" x 8", framed under glass to an overall size of 12-1/4" x 10-1/4".

A beautifully executed example with a wealth of fine detail (e.g., the intricate floral patterning on the blanket and very fine attention to the howdah and maharaja's attire and jewelry).

CONDITION: In fine, attractive condition, with strong, vibrant colors and no evident defects.
