Item Description

"Modern" carafe designed by Ernest L. Lilja for Inland Glass Works, Chicago, 1940s–1950s, blown glass in ball form with long cylindrical neck, black Bakelite handle with metal cuff, and painted wood and cork stopper, the body decorated with bright silvering, 11-3/4" tall overall, with etched company mark.

A classic of mid-century design, other examples of which are in the Dallas Museum of Art and other institutions.


Notes: CONDITION: A touch of mild soiling and surface wear, otherwise very fine condition, with no cracks or chips, the trim remaining bright and 100% intact.
