VINTAGE MID-CENTURY MODERN CUBIST CUT-PAPER COLLAGE OF A MUSICIAN, 1950s

Striking and vibrant vintage collage, 1950s, executed in a whimsical cubist style with various colored and metallic papers on a brown background, depicting a seated barefoot man playing the guitar, sight size 17-5/8" x 11-5/8", in the original painted wooden frame with glass measuring 18-5/8" x 12-5/8" overall, signed in pencil at lower right with a name that appears to be "Bill Kessler" and what appears to be either "50" or "58" (the lower portion partly concealed by rabbet).

A colorful example with plenty of "pop," clearly influenced in medium and subject by such early cubists as Picasso and Gris.

Notes: Mild wear to frame, and a bit of slight cockling and discoloration to some of the paper pieces (original to creation, evidently from glue), otherwise near fine, attractive condition
