VINTAGE "LOTUS" VASE DESIGNED BY GEORGE THOMPSON FOR STEUBEN, 1940s

Stunning vintage Lotus vase (No. 7914) designed by George Thompson for Steuben in 1942, clear crystal in trumpet form with fire-polished rim, the base ringed with eight applied pointed finger-like "feet," ground bottom, 10" tall, the underside engraved "Steuben."

One of the signature mid-century designs from this foremost American maker.

Notes: Two small, faint hairlike scratches to interior; the lower part of the body with a tight, stable, inverted-fishhook-shaped crack behind one of the feet, about 1" high, near its point (see photos; evident only on close inspection); still attractive and very good overall, with no other cracks or chips and retaining full, original brilliant crystal clarity and a resonant ring when struck (sold as is)
