VINTAGE DRAGONWARE LOW BOWL OR BULB PLANTER, JAPAN, CIRCA 1920s - 1930s

Handsome vintage low bowl or bulb planter, made in Gifu Prefecture, Japan, 1920s–1930s, of squat circular form with low foot, the lower portion the luster glaze in mottled lemon yellow, the upper portion with deep moriage decoration featuring floral and vine motifs with lobed cartouches featuring dragons, 8-3/4" in diameter by 2-3/4" high, the underside with "Made in Japan" three-leaves mark.

A striking, beautifully made example, perfect for plants or creative repurposing as a centerpiece or serving bowl. A quite uncommon form in this ware.

Notes: Unobtrusive hairline to side (more visible on interior than exterior), otherwise very good condition
