TWO VINTAGE HOTEL SILVERPLATE TEAPOTS, INCLUDING UNIVERSITY CLUB AND HOTEL SINTON, EARLY 20TH CENTURY

Two vintage silverplate individual teapots, early 20th century, including:

1) University Club, Boston, made by the Gorham Silver Co., 1926, heavy hotel silverplate with hinged lid, 5-1/2" tall, marked "University Club, Boston, 1926, Gorham E.P., Silver Soldered, 8 oz.," with additional factory marks. An early, seldom-seen example from this storied social and athletic club founded in 1891. The University Club, founded in 1891, moved from its original home, on 270 Beacon Street, to its new clubhouse, at 40 Trinity Place, in 1926, the year the present item was made.

2) Hotel Sinton, Cincinnati, Ohio, made by Pick-Barth, 1930, heavy-gauge silverplate with hinged lid, 5" tallmarked "Pick-Barth Silver Plated, Hotel Sinton–1930, Nickel Silver, Silver Soldered, 453." Completed in 1907 at the corner for Fourth and Vine Streets in Cincinnati, the Sinton Hotel was known for its luxurious appointments. After years of decline the hotel's furnishings were auctioned off in 1964, prior to its demolition to make way for the National City Tower in 1968.

CONDITION: Both with expected light surface wear from normal use, and a bit of mild tarnishing, otherwise fine, attractive condition, with no breaks or losses.
