SCARCE LARGE VINTAGE SNAKE MUG BY FEN POTTERY, ENGLAND, 1960s

Scarce and terrific vintage oversized snake mug by Fen Pottery, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, England, circa 1960s, the sturdy clay body of hourglass form in speckled pale ocher with semitransparent russet bands, the bottom of the interior with the figure of a coiled green snake with upraised head, 4-1/2" tall overall, marked "Fen, Handmade, England."

A quite uncommon example of this distinctive and whimsical folk art form from this mid-century British pottery; I was unable to locate a single other example.

Notes: CONDITION: Some very faint, fine scattered crazing, otherwise very fine, attractive condition with no cracks or chips.
