ROGER BERGHOFF (AMERICAN, 1935 - 2015): "FERNS," SIGNED SILKCREEN, CIRCA 1970s

Roger Berghoff (American, 1935–2015): "Ferns," silkscreen on paper, circa 1970s, titled and signed in pencil beneath the image "Ferns, Roger Berghoff," image size 11-3/4" in diameter (circular), attractively framed under glass in antiqued silver- and gold-leafed wood with an acid-free mat to an overall size of 17-1/2" x 17-1/2".

The image is rendered in muted varied tones of brown/tan, green, and pale blue-gray, together with matte silver metallic ink. Berghoff, who studied at Central Washington University, later attended the Art Center in Los Angeles before returning to western Washington to embark on a professional art career. Though he worked in a number of media, including pen and ink, watercolors, pastels, and oils, his is best known for his silkscreens in a modernist figurative style.

Notes: CONDITION: A touch of mild rubbing to frame; otherwise very fine, attractive condition, with no evident defects to print (not examined outside frame). Note that the metallic inks produce different visual effects depending on the lighting and viewing angle; please see all of the photos.
