Stunning bud vase by Michael Elkan, Maple Leaf Studio, Oregon, late 20th–early 21st century, polished and natural maple burl with richly varied figuration (including bird's eyes), retaining the original irregularities and fissures, slender glass insert, the overall dimensions approx. 6-7/8" tall by 7-1/2" wide (maximum) by 1-7/8" thick, the underside branded "Maple Leaf Studio."

A particularly striking and sculptural example from this well-regarded, award-winning, Oregon-based contemporary woodworker (1942–2014).
