"Lower Manhattan Skyline," oil on canvas painting, early-to-mid 1970s, signed at lower right "Duchamp," 24" x 36", housed in a painted wooden frame measuring 29-1/8" x 41-1/8" overall.
An evocative, modernist view of lower Manhattan in a bold linear style somewhat reminiscent of Bernard Buffet, incorporating areas of heavy impasto. The vantage point from across the East River accurately depicts numerous structures of the Lower Manhattan skyline in the 1970s, the most prominent of which are the Brooklyn Bridge and the recently completed twin towers of the World Trade Center. A handsome and decorative relic of a vanished era in New York City.
Notes: Scattered wear to frame; a bit of light soiling to painting; otherwise very good, with no losses or restorations
