Leon R. Pescheret (British-American, 1892–1971): "Fine Arts Building, 1893 World's Columbian Exposition/Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago," original etching with drypoint, signed and dated in the plate at lower left, "Leon R. Peschert, 1931," plate size 11" x 7-1/8", matted and framed under glass to an overall size of 19-1/8" x 15-1/2".
The reverse bears the original printed label describing the origin of the building depicted, which was erected as a temporary facility for the World's Columbian Exposition and later refurbished and renovated to serve as the Museum of Science and Industry. In addition to his work as an architectural designer, Pescheret began etching in the 1920s and eventually devoted his career to that practice, later becoming especially associated with Arizona and the American Southwest.
Notes: A few faint stains to mat; light uniform toning to sheet; otherwise clean and fine overall (not examined outside frame)
