James Sowerby (British, 1757–1822): "Juncus sylvaticus," hand-colored copperplate etching, circa 1777–1798, sight size approx. 17-1/4" x 10", housed under plexiglas in a mat and wooden frame measuring 25" x 17-3/8" overall.
From Flora Londinensis by Richard Curtis, a comprehensive illustrated study on plants that grew in the vicinity of London, published in six volumes between 1777 and 1798.
CONDITION: Some very faint scattered toning; a bit of light wear to frame; otherwise clean, fine, attractive condition overall (not examined outside frame).
