Hilda Kaihlanen (American, 1919–2013): "Interior Scene with Fireplace," watercolor and gouache on paper, mid-to-late 20th century, sight size 9-3/4" diameter (circular), housed under glass in the original brass frame with double mat measuring 12-3/8" x 12-3/8" overall, signed at lower right "Hilda" (and signed a second time in the "painting in the painting") and bearing the artist's Gloucester studio stamp on the backing.

A characteristic, colorful, and charming example from this well-known Cape Ann folk artist and former Folly Cove designer of Finnish ancestry, whose crammed, tiny shop was a longtime fixture on Rockport's Bearskin Neck.

Notes: CONDITION: Crack to glass at lower left corner; otherwise fine, attractive condition, with bright, unfaded colors (not examined outside frame).
