Item Description

Handsome vintage carafe or pitcher by Richard Harkness, Epsom, New Hampshire, late 20th century, hand-blown glass shading from clear to light cobalt blue, the bulbous body rising to a flaring spouted rim with gray wrap, the neck with thick spiraling thread in opaque medium blue, rough pontil, 8-1/2" tall, the base engraved "Harkness."

A characteristic example from this much-respected contemporary glass artist, whose works are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the West Virginia Museum of American Glass, among other institutions.

CONDITION: A few tiny, minor scrapes to exterior, otherwise fine, attractive condition, with no cracks, chips, or haze.
