FINE VINTAGE VASE WITH GOLDFISH ENGRAVING, STROMBERG, SWEDEN, 1930s - 1940s

Scarce and stunning vintage vase by Edvard and Gerda Stromberg, Sweden, circa 1930s–1940s, thick-walled hand-blown glass in flaring, subtly ribbed form with fire-polished scalloped rim, one side deeply wheel-cut with a detailed image of a fan-tailed goldfish swimming among weeds, polished pontil, 8" tall by 6-5/8" in diameter (maximum) at the rim, unmarked.

Though unsigned, both the form and the design of the engraving are well-documented as originating with Stromberg in the 1930s. Quite uncommon in this size.

CONDITION: A few scratches and abrasions (principally to uncut back side; a single tiny, flat surface flake to same area, noted for strict accuracy); otherwise near fine, attractive condition, with full original crystal clarity and characteristically fine, careful cutting.
