Handsome antique shelf or mantel clock by the Hamburg American Clock Co., Württemberg, Germany, circa 1890–1910, the case of mixed hardwoods in architectural form, the front door featuring an arched-top opening with conforming beveled glass flanked by split balusters, the top of compound mansard form with fish-scale carving and applied front crest, the brass face with four applied brass spandrels and crest, silvered dial with Arabic numerals, pierced hands, the overall dimensions 15-1/2" x 10-1/8" x 6-7/8", with pendulum and iron winding key, the interior of the door with paper label reading "H. A. C., 14-Day Strike, Made in Württemberg" with crossed-arrows trademark.
An appealing, beautifully made example from this well-known German manufacturer.
CONDITION: Lacking the three original finials (which could be replaced if desired); a few tight age checks to wood (not affecting integrity); running and chiming intermittently but needing adjustment (sold as is), the case with rich, pleasing, untouched patina.
