Item Description

Charming antique fairing by Conta & Boehme, Germany, circa 1880s, hand-painted porcelain in the form of a match holder with striker, depicting a young boy holding a spade before a brickwork receptacle, 4-3/8" tall, the underside impressed with the arm-in-shield trademark and the numbers 3197 and 255.

Quite scarce in this design; I was unable to locate a single other example.

Notes: CONDITION: Gilt inscription to front of base heavily rubbed and mostly illegible, otherwise fine, attractive condition, with no cracks or chips.
