ANTIQUE CHILDREN'S ABC PLATE WITH TRANSFER DESIGN, J & G MEAKIN, ENGLAND, 19TH CENTURY

Charming antique children's ABC plate by J & G Meakin, England, mid-19th century, the earthenware body with relief-molded alphabet at the rim, the well with a hand-colored transfer of a domestic scene with children playing on the floor as their mother, seated in a chair, primps before a mirror, the image circled by the text "Franklin's Proverbs, Silks and satins, scarlet and velvets put out the kitchen fire," 7-1/8" in diameter, with impressed "J & G Meakin" and "K" marks.

Notes: CONDITION: Light scratching from use; scattered crazing with some associated light staining; otherwise good condition.
