These traditional stick puppets wooden wayang representing characters like Suyudana are exquisite and culturally significant artifacts that embody the rich storytelling tradition of Indonesian shadow puppetry. With their meticulous craftsmanship, symbolic significance, and cultural heritage, these puppets continue to captivate audiences and inspire appreciation for Indonesia's diverse cultural and artistic heritage. As a character from the Mahabharata epic, Suyudana embodies timeless themes of duty, honor, sacrifice, and destiny. His puppet serves as a symbol of these universal values and ideals, inspiring audiences to reflect on the human condition and the eternal struggle between good and evil. Includes glass display case, very heavy.
Puppets were bought in 1993 from the Bandung Puppet Co. and the owner got to witness the puppets being made and painted, as seen in the photo.
