Selling an original Raymond Lapoint mixed media abstract art made of cut wood and oil paint in squares, circles and rectangles. Interesting modern piece in the style of Piet Mondrian. Signed Lapoint lower right corner, inscribed on the back.
Artist Bio: Raymond Lapointe (1926-2011) Ray Lapointe was born in Lowell Massachusetts in 1926, one of 11 children. During WWII he served in the Army, where he was in charge of homing pigeons. Ray worked as a shipyard welder, a landscape designer, and as a maintenance man for various rental properties. He designed and built his own house in Chelmsford, Massachusetts, loved Japanese architecture and landscaping, his many dogs, and baking pies for family and friends. After retirement, as a self-taught artist, Ray experimented with geometry, color, and the flow of energy within his paintings. For reasons unknown, he signed his
works "Lapoint", dropping the final 'e' of his surname. Artwork was Ray's lease on life until he lost his battle with cancer in 2011, whereupon he donated his body to science.
